The Region VI Pretreatment Association (RVIPA) represents the Water Treatment Experts of the USEPA Region VI states (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas). The Association is a non-profit organization primarily assimilated to coordinate the EPA Region VI Annual Workshop which had been coordinated by the EPA Region VI office. RVIPA members meet annually to share expertise, training, and experiences to help each other improve their environmental protection techniques.
Though M.A.R.S was not able to send in our bid to speak at this year’s event soon enough, we will be there to provide guidance and assistance in writing, implementing, and enforcing Mercury Amalgam Laws. Last year, during the 34th Annual Meeting, M.A.R.S was able to fill in gaps missed during the training provided by others on amalgam separators and the new EPA Regulation. We will be sharing the material we developed for last month’s WEAT training (Water Environment Association for Texas).
35th Annual Meeting Hosts
The City of Dallas hosts the 35th annual Region VI Pretreatment Association Workshop in Denton, TX. The Region VI Pretreatment Association (RVIPA) represents the people of the USEPA Region VI states (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) whose profession involves working with Industrial Pretreatment. The workshop will be held at The Embassy Suites by Hilton Denton Convention Center. During the day, attendees will have the opportunity to learn new skills from professionals from across North America. In the evening, there are many attractions and restaurants to allow for networking opportunities.
Dental Rule Workshops and Technical Sessions
The first course will be taught by Jan Pickrel, the National Pretreatment Program Coordinator at EPA. She has taught many courses on the pretreatment program across the nation, both in-person and via webinar. The course, simply titled “Dental Amalgam Rule” will be a one-hour session introducing Water Treatment Professionals to the new EPA Regulation.
Breakout Session – Moderate RoundTable
Adam Yates from Arkansas, Erika Crespo from Texas, Rachel Davis from Louisiana, and Roshini Schroeder from Oklahoma will moderate roundtable discussions regarding the dental amalgam rule. Roshini Schroeder’s name may sound familiar to our followers, as she was the one who invited M.A.R.S to Oklahoma to educate their Water Treatment Experts on Amalgam Separators, Dental Practices, and Dental Amalgam.
