Who We Are

M.A.R.S Bio-Med Processes is a privately owned manufacturer that began in September of 2005 after recognizing that there was a great level of concern for personal safety and the environmental consequences of having unmonitored dental amalgam mercury in the clinical setting. We set out to create the world’s finest and safest amalgam separator and the most powerful yet kindest, 100% biodegradable dental water system cleanser.

We have achieved our mandate. In May 2006, at Globe 2006 in Vancouver, BC, M.A.R.S' AmalgamBOSS will have the unique distinction of being presented with the ETV Canada award for outstanding achievement in the amalgam separator category by the Minister for Environment Canada.

What We Do

Our people are dedicated to turning environmental issues into leading products that help solve dentistry’s challenges. We have combined our extensive manufacturing experience with the support of scientists and leading-edge testing facilities to deliver the best quality amalgam separator, and the best quality dental system water to dentists, to society, and the environment.

The AmalgamBOSS is the best in its category when rated by international government standards. ETV Canada was the final arbiter of the AmalgamBOSS’s performance.

What We Believe

M.A.R.S believes it has a responsibility to the community and the planet. Every year, 2% of profits shall be allocated for charitable causes:

• Breast Cancer Research - because almost 90% of the dental network, from dentists to staff to suppliers to patients, are women.
• Alzheimer's Research -because almost 5 million citizens in the US and Canada suffer from Alzheimer’s disease (AD) today, and that number is projected to be 15 million by 2050. It is a slow, progressive brain disorder with no known cause or cure, starting with mild memory problems and ending with severe brain damage. For those supporting a family member with AD, it is called “the long good-by” and is one of the saddest diseases we cope with. It is important to note, however, that AD is not a normal part of aging. At M.A.R.S, we are honored to play a role to help fund research on and about educating the public about Alzheimer’s disease.

The Community

The better world we dream of for our children becomes more real by the actions we take in our local communities. Success in achieving this dream requires the multidimensional integration of sustained economic and performance compliance by supporting ethical actions where there are opportunities to create benefit for society and the long-term health of the Environment.

As the Company has grown, M.A.R.S has increased its stewardship efforts. We want to show progress in our long-standing efforts in areas such as compliance, environmental health and user safety, but other pertinent areas include supporting research in an effort to stay ahead of growing areas of concern.

The Environment

Policy

Full compliance is easy to say but hard to do. However, we are committed to doing our very best to achieve an outstanding record in environmental compliance for mercury reduction specifically and other workplace hazardous wastes in general including the quality of the air you breathe.

Protecting the environment and the health and safety of people is becoming the law in many jurisdictions around the world – and M.A.R.S believes it is the right thing to do. Through excellent products and service, M.A.R.S conducts its operations in a safe manner that minimizes environmental impact.

We measure the Company’s performance through financial results, naturally, but we also view how that performance is achieved in a broader context: the health and safety for our customers’ staff, and our own; the impact of our operations on the environment and communities; our interaction with governments and regulatory agencies around the world; and our compliance with the environmental regulations, themselves.

M.A.R.S conducts business with national governments and government-owned enterprises. We frequently interact with government agencies and officials. In every instance, M.A.R.S applies the highest ethical standards and complies with all applicable laws and regulations. We recognize that our actions speak louder than our words.

M.A.R.S’ understanding of how biotechnology and nanotechnology could control mercury molecules led to an entirely new design of amalgam separator.

The AmalgamBOSS and LibertyBOSS are more powerful and more compact, while reducing operating costs for dentists.

Amalgam Separators

“BOSS” separators are simply genius! Efficient and clean, nanotechnology significantly enhances technical quality and reliability, increasing the number of mercury molecules that can be captured. But the active mixed media bed in the “BOSS” is dedicated to much more than just capturing mercury! It removes many other environmental contaminants, like arsenic, lead, and silver, to name just a few.

Brilliant Performance

The AmalgamBOSS and LibertyBOSS have larger ion exchange media chambers. Our ion exchange treatment chambers hold complex catalytic filtration medium providing up to two years of dental operating capability. This means the AmalgamBOSS and LibertyBOSS require service only once, reducing disposal obligations and operating costs.

BOSS separators deliver mercury removal performance at over 99% removal of solid and aqueous mercury at real-life wastewater flow rate conditions of 750 ml /min. This consistent, high-level performance provides confidence to the dentist that environmental standards are being met with a proven impact on environmental management.

How M.A.R.S keeps you, your staff and your patients safe

For most dental practices the cost of replacing amalgam separator filter units has been an unfortunate reality, until now. MARS Bio-Med Processes Inc. has a proven separator that is ISO certified at 99 %, is easy to install and has a low annual cost.

ADA tested at 99.17% and is the only separator in the world to receive the Canadian ETV certification from Environment Canada for 99% separation.

Finally, an amalgam separator that is completely self-contained and detachable. No more possible mercury spills at regular service or decanting interval.

The unit is never opened in the facility because to do so would allow the release of pathogens and vaporous mercury that have been captured by the separator.

With its powerful ion exchange treatment capability, more than 99% of solid, aqueous, and vaporous mercury is removed, month after month for its entire service cycle, under real-life dental practice conditions.

No more semi-annual service hassles and disposal obligations. The AmalgamBOSS and LibertyBOSS separators require no interim maintenance. And, at the end of each service cycle, simply have a certified technician remove the separator and have a new “BOSS” installed.
