Removal Competitor’s Amalgam Separator – Coming Home to the M.A.R.S LibertyBOSS

This video is of a Dental Practice in Milton, ON who was experiencing constant filter changes and decided to go with a removal Competitor’s Amalgam Separator.

Changing Out the SolmeteX Hg5

This Dentist had a LibertyBOSS for about a year and a half until she changed to a SolmeteX Hg5. Her decision was based on the recommendation of her Technician. Her LibertyBOSS still had a year and a half left on its service life. The Technician could not make a commission on the LibertyBOSS so he convinced the Dentist to switch to the Hg5. In the year and a half, this 4 op office had the SolmeteX they went through 4 Hg5 filters, totaling $1,600 in filter costs. This is excluding the cost of the Hg5 system and the service and transportation fees to install and maintain the Hg5.

The following is the Issues and Solutions for this practice

Issue 1

Constant filter changes.SolmeteX Hg5 filters

Solution 1

Replaced the Hg5 with a no maintenance amalgam separator, LibertyBOSS. There is no longer a need for weekly inspections and a filter change every 4 months.

Issue 2

The Hg5 was installed with loose fitting brass fittings and it was installed with an unnecessary 90 degree elbow. Every elbow causes the pump to work 6% harder than it has to.Solmetex Hg5

Solution 2

When removing the SolmeteX Hg5 and installing the LibertyBOSS, remove unnecessary elbows and replace loose barbed fittings with tighter PVC fittings.

Issue 3

This office had 3 prepaid Hg5 filters to be picked up by Octagon. In Ontario, a Dental Practice has to have their used amalgam separator removed from their practice within 90 days.

Solution 3

Install a LibertyBOSS, which does not require filters or maintenance. The LibertyBOSS will not have to be changed for up to 3 years in this practice and comes with prepaid recycling when the depleted LibertyBOSS is changed out.
