When the EPA Law passes, what is expected from Dentists?
When the EPA passes their law, your local Privately Own Water Treatment Works (POTWs) will be responsible for implementing and enforcing your local standards. Depending on the office location, each standard would be different, and there will be no way of knowing what the standard is until your local POTW approaches you with their standards.
Why are the POTWs implementing and enforcing the law and not the EPA?
The EPA regulates POTWs, setting a permit that each POTW will have to follow. If the POTW is found polluting higher mercury then they are permitted to release, it is now the POTWs’ responsibility to follow the pollution upstream and police who is releasing it. POTWs already know the highest polluters of soluble mercury are dental practices.
